Amid Economic Challenges, Central Iowa Chambers of Commerce Band Together to Support Local Business through Shop Where I Live E-Commerce Marketplace

With the holiday season approaching and online holiday spending at an all-time high, local businesses need support now more than ever. The COVID-19 impact on businesses has resulted in closures and dwindling in-person traffic. In order to support local businesses, several Central Iowa chambers of commerce have united in a solution to boost holiday sales through a local online marketplace called Shop Where I Live.

The Central Iowa Shop Where I Live website makes it easy for shoppers to browse from many local businesses at once. A variety of products, services and gift cards are available without having to visit hundreds of different websites. Partnering chambers that made the effort possible include the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, Johnston Chamber of Commerce, Grimes Chamber and Economic Development, Indianola Chamber of Commerce, West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, and Boone County Chamber of Commerce.

This month, the chambers are announcing a ‘Central Iowa Cyber Sale’ as a way to safely support local shopping this season. Customers who shop during this time will see new seasonal products, specials, and promotions on the Central Iowa Shop Where I Live site. In addition, customers can earn a $5 reward for every $50 spent on the site. The sale will run from October 19th through November 22.

The Cyber Sale will include promotions from individual vendors like Sassy Ensembles featuring products like a navy mid-length puffer coat for only $56!

“Through Shop Where I Live, customers are able to conveniently shop and find products and services from many local businesses at once,” says Cherie Edilson, Co-Founder & CEO of Shop Where I Live. “For small businesses, it’s a great addition to bring in additional revenue online.” “A marketplace that supports just local businesses is something that everyone can get behind”, says Urbandale Chamber President, Tiffany Menke. “ We are happy to be a part of this solution for local businesses”.

Businesses interested in participating should reach out to one of the partnering chambers to get registered. To support local businesses, online, this season, visit the Central Iowa Shop Where I Live marketplace at:
