URBANDALE, Iowa — The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Salon Seven•O, owned by Melissa Baas, as the 2026 Downtown Urbandale Champion of the Year, recognizing the business’s commitment to supporting local businesses, community events and the continued revitalization of Downtown Urbandale.
Salon Seven•O will be honored at Sample Urbandale on Thursday, September 17, at Stoney Creek Hotel.
Located just south of Douglas Avenue, Salon Seven•O is an active and engaged member of the Downtown Urbandale business community. Under Baas’s ownership, the salon has embraced opportunities to connect with fellow businesses and community members, including participating in the inaugural Downtown Urbandale Block Party.
Baas understands that a thriving downtown is about more than buildings and infrastructure. It is about creating a place where people want to gather, shop, work and build relationships. Through her willingness to participate in downtown events, support fellow business owners and invest her time and energy in the community, she is helping create the connected, locally focused business environment envisioned for Downtown Urbandale.
Salon Seven•O is also an active member of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce and is recognized as a woman-owned business. Through its presence, participation and continued support of the local community, the salon exemplifies the spirit of the Downtown Urbandale Champion of the Year Award.
