ATW Training Solutions believes the core of every organization is its people. Established in 1999, the Urbandale business engages its clients to improve performance and productivity by investing in their employees and unleashing their leadership potential.

President Todd McDonald and his team of 10 training professionals have almost 100 years of combined experience in the human resources training field. The team offers turn-key solutions through classroom training, distance learning and e-learning modules to maximize their clients’ results.

ATW offers a wide range of training options on-site at the client’s business or at its New Horizons Computer Learning Center with three virtual learning rooms. Training modules include individual courses on topics such as leadership, goal setting, workplace harassment and discrimination and the Working Leader Series focusing on communication essentials, emotional intelligence, on-the-job training techniques and peer to peer feedback. The company also presents a six-month Management Development Program and a certification program through a train the trainer process.

The training industry was especially hard hit by the COVID-19 economic shutdown.  While ongoing employee training increases retention, efficiencies, and results, it is often one of the first expenses put on hold during challenging times.

At the height of the pandemic, ATW worked with Eric Taylor of Central Bank to finance an SBA-backed Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loan to maintain its staff and provide products at no charge to customers and business owners statewide.  Like many small businesses, ATW pivoted to meet its clients’ needs and adjust its business model.  ATW’s team quickly produced short training videos showing employees how to work effectively in a remote environment and managers how to support and lead a virtual workforce.

While not yet back to 2019 levels, ATW sees the market responding to the new normal by seeking out products and services that support their talent development needs  Its diversification in providing  training via classroom or virtual and its custom-designed services where it produces company-specific micro-video modules, eLearning and print products provide the foundation to position ATW for continued success.
